Nua Pad Prik (Thai Chili Beef)
 


 

Ingredients

2 cloves

1 tsp

Garlic (minced)

Salt

Pepper (freshly ground)

Chiles (Thai hot or jalapeño) (minced)

Red pepper (sliced very thin)

Fish sauce (or soy sauce)

Sugar (brown)

Oyster sauce (optional)

Oil

Beef (filet or tenderloin) (partially frozen, then sliced in thin strips)

Method
  1. Mix the beef with the salt, pepper and garlic and set aside in a bowl to marinate briefly
  2. Mix the fish sauce, brown sugar, and the oyster sauce (if using it) together in a small bowl to form a sauce
  3. Have all your ingredients ready and close by
  4. Heat the oil on high in a wok or deep skillet
  5. Add the chile pepper and red pepper and stir fry rapidly for about 30 seconds
  6. Add the beef and stir fry rapidly another 1-2 minutes until the beef is just cooked through
  7. Turn the heat to low and pour in sauce ingredients and toss to cover the beef
  8. Remove from heat and serve
  9. Toss in a handful of chopped cilantro at the end if desired
  10. Add some baby corn after the beef is cooked and before the sauce is added if desired
