                                RECIPES OF SINGAPORE

Spiced Spareribs

 

Ingredients

3 lbs

1 tbsp

1/2 tsp

1 tbsp

1 1/2 tsp

1/2 tsp

3 tbsp

4 cloves

1/2 cup

Pork spareribs (separate with a sharp knife)

Honey

Five spiced powder

Sesame oil

Salt

Ground black pepper

Light soy sauce

Garlic

Hot water

Plum sauce

Method
  1. Crush garlic and combine with salt, pepper, five spice powder, honey, sesame oil and soy then rub well into spareribs

  2. Put them in a roasting pan and cook in a moderate oven with temperature at 170-190 degrees C (350-375 degrees F)

  3. After 30 minutes, turn spareribs, add hot water to pan and continue roasting, basting with the liquid every 10 minutes, for a further 30 minutes

  4. Alternatively, heat 1-2 tablespoons peanut oil in a large heavy frying pan and brown spareribs

  5. Add water, cover and simmer for 30-35 minutes or until tender

  6. Serve hot with boiled rice and plum sauce
