Mechado (Beef Stew)

 

Ingredients

Beef (cut into pieces)

Garlic (crushed)

Onion (sliced)

Potatoes (quartered and fried)

Carrot (cut round)

Soy sauce (adjust to taste)

Peppercorn (adjust to taste)

Tomato sauce

Laurel

Salt (adjust to taste)

Cooking oil

Method
  1. Cook the meat in oil until it turns brown
  2. Using the same oil sauté garlic and onion
  3. Add lemon, soy sauce, peppercorn, tomato sauce, laurel and salt
  4. Simmer for a few minutes then add hot water
  5. Cover and simmer
  6. Add potatoes and carrot when meat is tender
