Keema Gobhi (Ground Beef and Cauliflower)

 

Ingredients

Minced ground beef

Cauliflower (washed and cut into medium sized florets)

Onions (finely chopped)

Tomatoes (blanched and chopped or pureed)

Garlic (grounded)

Ginger (½ inch piece) (grounded)

Green cardamoms (crushed)

Cloves

Coriander powder

Grounded cumin seeds

Dried fenugreek

Garam masala

Cooking oil

Fresh coriander (cilantro) leaves) (washed and finely chopped)

Salt (adjust to taste)

Black peppers (adjust to taste)

Red chilli powder (adjust to taste)

Method
  1. Heat oil in a large heavy pot and add the cauliflower in batches
  2. Fry gently until it is golden brown then drain and set aside
  3. In the same oil, add the cardamoms and cloves and as they start to darken add in the onions and fry well until they turn golden brown
  4. Add in the ginger and garlic and fry
  5. Add in the coriander powder, cumin powder, fenugreek leaves, tomatoes, red chilli powder and salt and fry well until the oil starts to separate
  6. Add in the minced meat, and fry on low heat until the excess water evaporates and the meat turns rich brown
  7. Add as much water as would be needed to just cook the meat and cook in a pressure cooker
  8. As soon as the cooker reaches maximum pressure, reduce the heat and cook for another 7-8 minutes (Let the pressure reduce by itself)
  9. Open the cooker and add in the cauliflower
  10. Stir well, (add more water if needed) and cover and let it cook until the cauliflower is tender and there is no excess water left
  11. Garnish with garam masala and coriander (cilantro) leaves before serving
  12. Serve with Plain Rice, Naan or Chapati
