Hari Mirch Keema (Green Pepper Ground Beef)

 

Ingredients

1 kg

5 medium

125 gm

25 gm

1/2 tsp

1/2 tsp

60 ml

50-100 gm

A bunch

1

Ground Beef (lean and minced)

Onions (3 finely sliced and 2 cut in large pieces)

Green chillies (split and de-seeded)

Garlic (shredded)

Turmeric powder

Cumin seeds

Plain yogurt

Ghee (or oil)

Fresh coriander (cilantro) leaves  (chopped)

Lime (cut into four)

Method
  1. With the minced beef combine the plain yogurt, salt, turmeric powder and cumin seeds and set aside
  2. Heat oil in a large pot and cook the sliced onions until they are brown in color
  3. Add the minced mixture and saute well
  4. Pour in about 400 ml of water in the mixture and simmer until the water is half reduced then add in the green chillies, onion chunks and garlic
  5. Continue cooking until all of the liquid evaporates and the meat is tender
  6. Garnish with limejuice and coriander
  7. Serve with salad and Naan or Chapati
