Sambal Assam (Sour Chilli Sauce)


 

Ingredients

1 piece

1/2 tbsp

1/2 tsp

2 tsp

Dried shrimp paste (belacan) ( 3/4 inch square x 1/2 inch)
Dried chillies (
remove the chilli seeds if too hot)
Tamarind paste
Salt
Sugar
Method
  1. Soaked dried chillies in warm water for several hours
  2. Soak tamarind paste in 1/4 cup water
  3. Pound chillies and belacan to a fine paste
  4. Add tamarind juice (Strain out the lumps)
  5. Add salt and sugar and stir well

Serve as sauce condiment
