Nasi Goreng (Fried Rice)


 

Ingredients

500 gm

3/4 cup

Cooked rice
Cooking oil

Carrots (diced)
Medium prawns (shelled, divined and seasoned)
Cooked chicken meat (diced)
Long beans (cut into 6 mm thickness)
Eggs (made into omelet, rolled up and shredded)
Celery
Lettuce (shredded)
Shallot flakes (fried)
Garlic (pounded)
Shallots (pounded)
Red chilies (pounded)
Dried shrimp paste (belacan) (5 cm x 2.5 cm x 0.6 cm) (pounded)

Salt (adjust to taste)

Pepper (adjust to taste)
MSG (adjust to taste) (optional)

Method
  1. Heat oil on medium flame and add garlic, shallots, chilies and dried shrimp paste (belacan)

  2. Fry for 3 minutes, then add carrots and prawns

  3. Fry for another 5 minutes, then add chicken and long beans

  4. Season to taste with salt, pepper and MSG and cook till all the ingredients are done

  5. Reduce heat to low and add rice and toss mixture together for another 5 minutes

  6. When thoroughly warmed, remove from flame

  7. Dish up and garnish with remaining ingredients

  8. Serve hot or warm with chili or tomato sauce
