Karimeen Pollichathu (Kerala Fish Fry)
 

Ingredients

500 gm

1 tbsp

1 tbsp

1 cups

1 medium

1 tsp

½ tsp

1  small

1  sprig

2 tbsp

 

Skinless firm white fish slices or pieces well washed

Garlic (finely sliced)

Ginger juliennes

Water
G
reen chillies (slit)

Onion (finely sliced)

Red chilli powder

Turmeric powder

raw mango sliced or tomato chopped

Curry leaves

Oil

Salt  (adjust to taste)

Method
  1. Heat the oil in a heavy-bottomed pan till hot
  2. Add the garlic, ginger, green chillies and onions
  3. Saute for about 4  minutes
  4. Add the turmeric powder, red chilli powder, curry leaves and salt and saute briefly
  5. Add the water and raw mango slices / chopped tomato
  6. Bring to a boil
  7. Drop in the fish and mix gently
  8. Cover and cook on low for about 10  minutes or till the fish is cooked and the gravy is semi-dry

Serve hot with warm Lacy Rice and Coconut Pancakes (Appam) and / or steamed rice
