Pakon Char Poat Koun (Shrimp with Baby Corn)

 

Ingredients

1/2-1 lb

1 small

1 dozen

1 large

2 cloves

1/2 cup

1/4 tsp

Handful

Shrimp (medium or large) (Peeled and de-veined)

Canned baby corn (drained)

Dried shiitake mushroom (soaked in warm water and drained)

Carrot (peeled and sliced thin)

Garlic (minced)

Yellow onion (sliced)

Stalks green onion (cut ˝ inch length)

All purpose flour

Cooking oil

Corn starch

Water

Soy sauce

Oyster sauce

Sugar

Salt.

Black pepper

Chopped cilantro (for garnish) (optional)

Method
  1. In a large bowl, marinate shrimp with salt and black pepper, and then add all purpose flour and cornstarch
  2. Mix well and set a side
  3. In a small bowl, mix water with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar and set a side
  4. Pre-heat a wok or skillet with high temperature
  5. When hot, add cooking oil
  6. Sauté shrimp for few seconds then add garlic, yellow onion, carrot, baby corn and mushroom and stir well
  7. Pour mixed sauce over and stir till the sauce thicken, then add green onion and stirs well
  8. Garnish with chopped cilantro before serving
  9. Serve hot as appetizer or with rice (If you serve this dish with rice, diluted the sauce with another ˝ cup water)
