Kahr Saiko Kroeung (Sweet Beef)

Ingredients

Beef (top round steak-cubed)

Ginger (thinly sliced)

Dried Chiles (soaked)

Garlic (finely chopped)

Shallot (finely chopped)

Water

Olive Oil

Sugar

Fish Sauce

Soy Sauce

Chicken Broth

Coconut Milk

Tamarind Pulp

Salt (adjust to taste)

Pepper (adjust to taste)

Cilantro (for garnish)

Method

Combine beef & ginger and allow to marinate at least 1 hour
Place chiles, garlic, shallot & water in blender, blend until smooth
Heat oil in large pot
Add paste and cook for 2 minutes
Add beef (without ginger) sugar, fish sauce, soy sauce, salt, pepper & broth
Boil, reduce heat and simmer for 40 minutes
Add coconut & tamarind and simmer for about 20 minutes until the sauce is relatively thick
Garnish with cilantro
